| Customer Reviews: A Must for Any Dog Owner April 8, 2009 Piscine (Florida) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
This book is a must for any dog owner. It is the same book set given at the Red Cross Pet First Aid class and is the same DVD used in the class. The information is up-to-date and relevant and employs modern first aid techniques akin to human first aid and CPR. The chapters are well-organized and cover everything from mild abrasions to poisoning. The pictures used throughout the book and video on the DVD clearly illustrate the proper procedures to follow. Although not intended as a substitute for veterinary care, this book could make the difference between life and death for your dog in an emergency and I highly recommend it for anyone who comes into contact with dogs on a regular basis.
great resource April 7, 2010 W. Cassidy (Damascus, MD United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book was suggested by a dog trainer. It's wonderful. All the information you need to know in case of an emergency with your best friend. And great general information on how to prepare and what to have on hand so you'll be ready if something happens to your canine.
Good introduction but breif December 23, 2009 Gary V.S. (CA USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I would classify this as a very good introductory book that would enable you to evaluate much more detailed books and information out there. I do like the source of information being the American Red Cross.
This book is only 116 or so pages and less than a half inch thick with a decent number of pictures and a decent DVD. I think if you have not had any training or information this is a good start, if you have other books, like those available at the local library, Barnes and Noble, Borders, etc., on Dog First Aid; Then this may not be for you.
